crock pot chicken and dumplings

November 24, 2015 by lorrin sell 5 Comments

More comfort food.  I’m barely squeaking this in again!!  Quick and easy recipe with not a lot of fluff.  Just how i like my recipes.  Who has time during the week to make something complicated?

Crock pot recipes are my favorite (this is my slow cooker, and I love that it is programmable, and has a few different settings.  I also love that it has the clasps on the side so that you can secure it if you travel to a pot luck or something)!!  They are just so easy and allow me to be flexible when I am planning dinner times.  Here are a couple that I have posted recently- chicken chili, enchilada soup, pulled pork.

crock pot chicken and dumplings

This is the easiest recipe for chicken and dumplings, and it's made in the crock pot!

ingredients

  • 3 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts trimmed of fat
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cans cream of chicken soup
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3 cups frozen peas
  • 1 can of buttermilk biscuits

Place chicken in the bottom of the crock pot.  Sprinkle chicken with garlic powder.  Pour peas over chicken.  Pour chicken broth and soup over everything.  Cook on high 4-6 hours or low 6-8 hours.  30 minutes before serving, remove chicken and shred, then return to the crock pot and give everything a good stir.  Cut biscuits into quarters.  Drop into crock pot, turn setting to high.  Cook for 30 additional minutes.

xoxo,
