  •  Adult coloring books. I’m just going to be totally honest and let you know, I loved coloring before adult coloring books became the rage.  It’s one thing my kids don’t have to ask twice for me to do with them.  Now that adult coloring books have become popular, I love it even more!  Most of the pages in these books take me days to finish, and that’s fine with me!  I happen to be obsessed with the ocean and all things beachy, and I found the perfect coloring book for me!

  • It relieves stress.  Did you know that coloring can relieve stress??  I have a much easier time tuning things out when I am focusing on coloring.  But, hey, don’t just take my word for it.  Check out this article.  Want more proof??  You can find all kinds of coloring books ( here are a few- color me calm, color me happy, color me stress free) that promote just that– stress relief, anxiety relief, etc.
  • It gives me something creative to do without making a huge time commitment or clean up. If I’m being totally real with myself, the reason I don’t do more creative “stuff” is because I don’t have the time to commit, and I usually end up with a half finished product, and a bunch of wasted money, AND a big mess to clean up.  Coloring is a no fuss way to get my creative juices flowing, and when I’m done I just throw some markers in a bag, and shove my book in a drawer.  DONE!

  • It’s something I can still do with my kids.  I don’t always want to take my big girl coloring book out when my wild things are around because, well, they have a tendency to take things over.  But there are times when they ask to do something with me, and this is the perfect, special thing to do with them.  I can color with them, and they think they are doing something super special since it’s “mommy’s coloring book”.
  • It’s fun!  Plain and simple.  I have fun with it!  I really like using these markers with my coloring book because their skinny and there are tons of colors, and it’s even more fun when I throw in a metallic marker because- gold!  Yeah, I’m a dork.  I know..

I love this simple burlap table runner. It is so easy to make. modes-1 There is absolutely no way I could keep every art project my kids bring home. This is such a great way to document this stuff. Now I don't have to feel bad when I throw stuff away after a few days.

So glad I’m not the only one that loves to color! It’s relaxing and I love all the options out there for adult coloring books. I will have to check out the Lost Ocean.

Yep, big grown adult here, and I still LOVE coloring! It’s a bonus that my toddler loves it too, so we can color together. I have a confectionery coloring book, with tons of delicious looking cakes, candies, and other baked treats. As soon as I finish my other coloring page, I’m digging into that one again!

Right! I mean think the price of some adult coloring books are ridiculous! Since before the rage of them my friends and I would get coloring books at the dollar tree and take study breaks during college.

My husband got me a couple of Adult coloring books for Christmas last year and it is so relaxing just to sit and color sometimes!

Oh, you are so right. They can be really expensive. It’s nice that they have gone down a bit in price since the rage. I guess they last forever though so it sort of justifies the price, I guess. The one I have wasn’t REALLY cheap but it will last me a REALLY long time!
