Hi, friends!!! I’ve been super bored and I never have anything to do, so I figured it was the perfect time to make something. Yeah. In case you didn’t hear it, that last sentence was totally dripping with sarcasm. But, I have been driving past all of this awesome Queen Anne’s lace, and I kept thinking that it would make the most amazing flower crown.
A couple of days ago, I decided to make it happen! I mean what a sweet photo prop right?? The best thing is I would have made it for #4 to play pretend with even if I weren’t using it as a prop. Plus, it really did end up being super easy and fast to make, and cheap. Super cheap! By the way, if you would like to have the directions sent to your inbox, I can do that for you! Just click here! how to make a flower crown

- a whole bunch of flowers
- floral wire
- floral tape

- Gather flowers. I wanted to “pick” my flowers so I just found a field of wild flowers, and took what I needed. Take scissors though– it made things so much easier. Pick the best looking flowers without bugs on them. Here is a little hint though, pick way more than you think you will need for a nice full crown. I didn’t end up having enough to go around the whole crown, and I picked what i thought would be a ton! I chose different sizes and clipped them about 6″ long so that I have some options when I was deciding how long I wanted them to be. One more hint, when you bring the flowers home stick the roots in a cup of water and then put them in the fridge. They will perk up!
- Measure how big you want the crown to be and cut the floral wire so that it loops twice.
- Wrap the connected ends of the wire with the floral tape to make the base of your crown.
- Cut your flowers to the desired length. I cut my stems different lengths so they would all be different.
- Start grouping flowers together in groups of 3 or four and wrapping the stems with floral tape.
- Attach one group of flowers at a time using the floral tape and wrapping it around the already wrapped stems and the floral wire.
- Finish it off by wrapping floral tape around any exposed wire, and use extra floral tape to secure any flowers that look too lose or are hanging funny.that’s it! like I said, it was SUPER easy, and wild thing #4 was so excited about her crown!! She wore it the rest of the afternoon.
I’m totally going to try this with different flowers–Maybe even more than one type of flower in the crown– at some point. I just think it would make a great prop for sessions. Now it’s your turn– what type of flowers do you think would be a good choice?? Leave me a comment!!
