When I do have time to do something, they’ve used up (destroyed) all of the supplies. What many of you may not know about me is that I do actually enjoy being creative, and I did graduate with a bachelor’s degree in child development, and I worked in day care for years.
Being crafty is sort of in my nature. It really just doesn’t happen much anymore. Anyhow, the whole point of that was— when the mood strikes, and I actually do have some time to be crafty with the kids, it has to be something I don’t have to go out and buy supplies for, and I really do try to find something that doesn’t just go on the refrigerator.
Enter- these fun rock crafts! I mean, how hard is it to find some rocks, and we almost always have the other stuff lying around.

1. DIY tic-tac-toe rocks | Design, Dining, and Diapers
I don’t think it gets any easier than this, and the kids would have a blast making, and playing this!
2. Painted Fish rocks | Crafty Morning
I just love that you can be completely creative with these. We have a rock garden in our front yard, and I would love to add a few of these to it!
3. Story Stones | Design Dazzle
The possibilities here are really endless. This would make great extra to pack when you’re Planning the Perfect Camping Trip!
4. Emoji Magnets | Blitsy
These are seriously so easy, and you could even chat a little about emotions.
5. Gnome Homes | Painting Rocks
My kids would have a blast making these. You could even make fairy houses. So, fun!
6. Melting Snowman | Painting Rocks
How cute are these??!! They would make a great DIY Christmas gift too!
7. Rocky Planter | Centsational Girl
This isn’t a project I would do with little ones, but I am excited to try it with the older boys (or even on my own). I have a ton of leftover pebbles from my DIY succulent window, and we always have leftover grout from tile projects. Her tutorial is with pebble sheets. I would have to tweak this, and do a little trial and error but I love how hers look! Definitely something I will try!
8. Travel Memory Stones | Popsugar
I have these thing with taking away a little piece of wherever we go. Before you hate on me, I’m talking about a seashell or a pretty stone. I’m not uprooting trees or anything! This idea is so cool because you could add your fave memory from a trip to a little piece of where you were, and then keep it in a jar. What an awesome way to spend time as a family every now and then- reading through your memories!
9. Marble Paperweight | DIY Fun Tips
This looks so easy, and so pretty! What a great idea for a gift too!
10. Alpha Rocks | The Write Start
I just keep looking at these thinking how entertained my boys would be at soccer games and tournaments when they’re sick of watching games.
11. Picture holder | Indulgy
Another insanely easy one that would make such a sweet gift!
12. Rock Caterpillar | Nellie Bellie
So, cute and colorful, and easy enough for the littlest crafter!
There you go, the next time you’re looking for something fun to make with your kiddos, try one of these fun rock crafts. Heck, finding the rocks is part of the fun!
