Homework time in our house is not exactly my favorite time of day. My kids aren’t interested in doing homework, and now that I have my own homework to worry about, it’s not exactly the fight I want to pick. It’s a necessary evil though, and we have come up with a few ways to make things easier. I hope they help you as much as they help us!
3 tips for homework time

Pay special attention to snacks!
By the time my kids get home from school, they’re starving. And, they’re not starving for snacks; they want real food. We were all super excited to find Frank’s Red Hot Wings at Walmart since they are the perfect snack sized food AND they can double as a mini meal (or a whole one!!). They have 3 flavors, and my boys all love them. In fact, these were gone before Brent made it home from work, and he was a little more than bummed he didn’t get to eat them!! The little boys love the kickin’ barbecue, and Brent and P love the hot wings, with the hot wing sauce. They really are the perfect homework snack!
You just pop them in the oven frozen and about 20 minutes later, they’re piping hot, and delish!

Keep homework supplies in one place.
If you waste a bunch of time searching for papers, and pencils, or books, and other stuff, you’ll all be sick of doing homework before it even starts. Trust me, I know from personal experience. I’m not sure how on earth it is possible to lose every single pencil in our house, every single time we try to do homework. It happens though. This year, we have cracked down on where school supplies go, and it is much less of an issue.

Take breaks.
Like I mentioned before, homework is a bit of a sore subject in our house, and it requires multiple breaks. While we may like to get it done and over with, kids are different. Often without frequent breaks, the information is lost. Since the whole point of homework is to learn, and retain more, it seems counterproductive to do homework, if you’re not going to retain it.
