DIY car survival kit

May 1, 2018 by lorrin sell Leave a Comment

Bring on spring and summer, and all things warm and sunny!!  Our calendar is full of spring sports, and end of the school activities.  I have to admit all of the busyness of the spring actually makes me happy.  It’s the start of a new season, and leads right into a more relaxed season, AND it usually means vacation is coming up.  But, we pretty much live out of my minivan for the next couple of months.  One thing that really helps me this time of year is having this “DIY car survival kit”.

DIY Car Survival Kit

**This post is sponsored by Pepperidge Farm but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Since we are in and out of the car so much with the kids, I have learned to keep a bag with some essentials in it.  Whether we are at a soccer game, headed to the playground, or on our way to a million other places, having these things in the car is crucial to my survival. 😉

1. SNACKS!

I might have mentioned once or twice how much we love Goldfish crackers in our house.  They’re the perfect on-the-go snack because they hold up well.  They’re perfect no matter how old you are, and they’re baked with real cheese.  I never feel guilty about letting my kids snack on them.

Goldfish crackers also work well for us because they travel well, and hold up well.  Now that the days are getting warmer, and our activities tend to take place outside, I don’t have to worry about them getting yucky in the hot car.  I also don’t have to worry about my kids being a mess when they’re done eating.  They fit perfectly in their hands, and are bite sized deliciousness.  Can’t go wrong with a Goldfish cracker!

2. Band-aids.

Never fails, there’s always a skinned knee that needs to be bandaged as soon as we start spending time outside.

3. Sunscreen.

This time of year the sun seems to come on strong when you’re completely unprepared which results in a wicked sunburn.  I can’t tell you how many times I have wished I had sunscreen with me.

4. A towel.

This towel is a total lifesaver for me.  It works as a blanket to sit on, a picnic blanket, and a straight up towel because it’s not uncommon that someone is covered in mud, or got wet.

5. Hand sanitizer.

The easiest way to clean hands no matter where you are.

5. Earbuds.

Sometimes there is one kid that just needs some time alone, and they’re along for the ride anyhow.

6. Coloring Book and Crayons

You can’t go wrong with some quiet entertainment for in the car or at a restaurant.

What would you add to your car survival kit?
